Former LDP Chairman Cem Toker, participating in a broadcast on Sözcü TV, responded to a question about what he would say to Retired Ambassador Ahmet Kamil Erozan's remark, "There is only one place Mehmet Şimşek needs to go to find money, and that is Beştepe," by recalling words Erdoğan said 10 years ago when he was Prime Minister.
"THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE WILL FIND THE MONEY"
Toker said the following:
"I agree. When Mehmet Şimşek accepted this position, I thought he had already held those discussions with Erdoğan before accepting it.
When they said Mehmet Şimşek would find money when he took office, I said this: It is the Minister of Justice who will find money for Turkey.
Ten years ago, when Erdoğan was Prime Minister, he said—and this sentence was a crime then, but if he said it today, he would be protecting the Constitution—'We have given the necessary instructions to the judiciary, and they will do what is required.'
This was a sentence regarding immunities and it was a crime, but now the Constitution says, 'The decisions of the Constitutional Court judges are final and shall be implemented.' Now, Erdoğan needs to step in and protect the relevant article of the Constitution, and the Supreme Election Council (YSK) needs to step in regarding the judges at the Court of Cassation.
I believe the Minister of Justice has a greater duty than Mehmet Şimşek."
