Former Minister Bekir Aksoy passes away

Former State Minister Bekir Aksoy has passed away at the age of 74.

A funeral ceremony will be held tomorrow at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for Aksoy, who served as a State Minister in the 54th Government and was a Member of Parliament for Çorum in the 20th and 21st terms, and for Ankara in the 23rd term.

Following the funeral prayer to be held at Kocatepe Mosque at noon, Aksoy's body will be laid to rest at Gölbaşı Cemetery.

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu published a condolence message for Aksoy on his social media account.

Dervişoğlu used the following expressions:

"I have learned with great sorrow of the passing of our statesman Bekir Aksoy, who made valuable contributions to our country.

I wish God's mercy upon the deceased and offer my condolences to his grieving family and loved ones.

May he rest in peace."

WHO IS BEKİR AKSOY?

Born in Çorum in 1950, Aksoy graduated from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Politics and Administration.

Having served as a district governor, Aksoy held positions at the Ministry of Interior as Personnel Branch Manager, Department Head, Deputy General Manager, and General Manager of Personnel. Later appointed as the Governor of Afyonkarahisar, Sivas, and Adana, Aksoy also served as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.

Elected as a Member of Parliament for Çorum in the 20th and 21st terms and for Ankara in the 23rd term, Aksoy served as a State Minister in the 54th Government. Aksoy, who also served as a member of the Turkish Group of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, was married and a father of 2 children.
