Former MP attempts suicide: Condition is critical

Kamil Erdal Sipahi, 76, a retired Major General who served as a Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) İzmir MP during the 23rd term of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and later joined the İYİ Party, allegedly attempted suicide by taking a large number of pills. It has been learned that Sipahi is in critical condition.

Relatives of former MP Kamil Erdal Sipahi (76), who resides in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir, notified the 112 Emergency Call Center after being unable to reach him for some time. Upon the report, police and 112 medical teams were dispatched to Sipahi's home in Karşıyaka.

COULD NOT BE REACHED FOR A LONG TIME

When the door was not opened despite officials ringing the bell for a long time, the apartment was entered with the help of a locksmith. Sipahi was found lying motionless on the floor.

Sipahi, who was determined to be living alone in the house, was taken to the nearest hospital by ambulance. It is assessed that Sipahi, whose life is in danger, attempted suicide by taking a large number of pills.
