Former palace speechwriter Aydın Ünal targets Ortaylı and Şengör: They are ignorant

Aydın Ünal, a former speechwriter for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, criticized renowned historian İlber Ortaylı and geologist Celal Şengör in an article he penned for the newspaper Yeni Şafak titled "Islam is our overarching identity."

Ünal claimed that these two figures present a distorted perception of history to young people and that this situation causes the youth to drift.

Ünal alleged that Ortaylı and Şengör distort the realities of history and stated: "These figures, who have both moral weaknesses, are ignorant, and are chasing after showmanship, have conveyed incorrect information to young people with the support they receive from inside and outside."

Ünal's targeting of Ortaylı and Şengör by calling them ignorant drew attention.
