From Ali Yerlikaya to CHP... 'The state will do what is necessary'
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, reacting to the CHP's call for a gathering in front of its Istanbul Provincial Headquarters, stated, "Ignoring court decisions is a challenge to the rule of law. We will not allow any attempt that disrupts public order."

The CHP called on Istanbul residents to gather at 23:00 at the Istanbul Provincial Headquarters building, whose administration had been removed from office. Following the call, the Governor's Office banned press statements, rallies, marches, and events in 6 districts of Istanbul until September 10. After the call, the Provincial Headquarters was surrounded by riot police, and the police closed the roads leading to the building.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reacted to the gathering in front of the Provincial Headquarters, saying, "The state will do what is necessary." In his statement, Yerlikaya wrote the following:
"With the interim decision of the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance dated 02.09.2025, the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair and their boards have been provisionally removed from office, and a Temporary Board has been appointed in their place.
Ignoring court decisions and trying to pour the public into the streets is clearly a challenge to the rule of law. No one is above the law. The state will resolutely do what is necessary against every unlawful attempt.
We will never allow public order and the peace of our nation to be disrupted, or the streets to be provoked, by making calls to the streets."
