Fund allegations against Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya infuriate even AKP members

Allegations regarding fund and share transactions involving AKP Deputy Chairperson and former Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and her husband, İlyas Kaya, have sparked a political debate.

YENİ Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre claimed that Kaya purchased 250,000 shares of ÖZAT at 255 liras on April 8, invested 63 million 359 thousand liras for this transaction, and sold the shares in September at 4,482 liras. According to Emre, Kaya withdrew 1 billion 344 million liras within four months as a result of these transactions.

Emre made a similar claim regarding İlyas Kaya. It was argued that İlyas Kaya purchased 150,000 shares at 255 liras, invested 99 million 687 thousand liras, and withdrew 826 million liras after the sale. Emre alleged that the transactions were carried out in two other shares with lower amounts, in addition to the main ÖZAT share.

According to the allegations, the transactions began on April 8; the sales were carried out in 4-5 separate transactions in September, before September 16. Emre also claimed that four of the accounts to which the money was transferred had Turkey-based extensions, while one had a non-Turkey extension. Arguing that the transactions took place in ÖZATA Denizcilik shares, Emre also shared an IBAN number.

Following the debate, former Gaziantep MP Şamil Tayyar, known for his proximity to the AKP, stated in a social media post that the allegations were "very grave" and called on Kaya to resign. Tayyar stated, "If the allegations are true, this is not an acceptable situation. She must resign immediately. No one can use their position as a tool for personal enrichment."

Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, in her statement to Notbir regarding the allegations, only replied, "I am not available."
