Journalist Barış Terkoğlu has suggested that the inheritance dispute that began following the death of Menzil sect leader Abdülbaki Erol could trigger conflicts not only within the sect but also within state institutions. Terkoğlu pointed out that the internal infighting of the Menzil sect, which is alleged to have influence in the gendarmerie, judiciary, ministries, and bureaucracy, could lead to state crises.

Cumhuriyet columnist Barış Terkoğlu claimed that the inheritance dispute between the sons of Menzil sect leader Abdülbaki Erol following his death could also create conflicts within the state.
Terkoğlu stated, "Menzil is influential not only in the village but also in the state. They have their people in the gendarmerie, the judiciary, ministries, and the bureaucracy. Naturally, the fight that started in the village continues within the state," adding, "The shifting direction of sects puts states that select their personnel based on sect references rather than merit into crisis. In the coming period, we may perhaps see police officers drawing weapons on each other and members of the judiciary clashing in housing complexes. "Menzil is influential not only in the village but also in the state. They have their people in the gendarmerie, the judiciary, ministries, and the bureaucracy. Naturally, the fight that started in the village continues within the state. As the fight grows, illegalities are also being exposed.
For example, two important names of Menzil in politics, Taner Yıldız and Recep Akdağ, took the side of 'Mübarek' rather than 'Ağabey Saki,' according to what is being discussed in the dervish lodge. Upon this, they were bombarded by Saki's followers on social media.
Did you notice who threw the first stone in the clash in the village? It was a police officer. A prosecutor came to the village to stop the war. The gendarmerie was dispatched.
Officers who put reverse handcuffs on those who chant two slogans begged the sect members, 'Sofis, be calm.' When the war grew, retaliation occurred; the incident spread to illegal houses built by Menzil members in Sakarya, and they were demolished. The house where the late Abdülbaki Erol once stayed was also razed to the ground with an excavator.
