The DEM Party has confirmed allegations that an assassination device was placed on the vehicle of the late Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder one week before he fell ill. DEM PARTY CONFIRMED THE ALLEGATIONS
The DEM Party confirmed the assassination attempt allegations with the following statement: "A need has arisen to make a statement regarding reports in some media outlets about an assassination attempt on our late Imrali Delegation member and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Sırrı Süreyya Önder.
On April 2, while the parking attendant was using Sırrı Süreyya Önder's vehicle, he became suspicious of a sound coming from the tires and took the vehicle to a service center. During the inspection, it was determined that a sharp, iron-made device capable of puncturing the vehicle's rear left tire had been placed there.
Önder brought this incident to the party boards, and the necessary examinations and evaluations were carried out. The incident and the relevant evidence were conveyed to official authorities. Both our party and Mr. Önder have been closely following the matter. Due to the sensitivity of the investigation, the issue was not reflected to the public. We have not yet been informed of a clear result regarding the ongoing research and investigation."
NEW DETAILS HAVE EMERGED
According to a report by Ceren Bayar from T24, the device placed on Önder's vehicle was discovered in the parking lot of his home in Istanbul. After the metal object was noticed, Sırrı Süreyya Önder informed both his party and state officials. The metal object was also handed over to the relevant authorities.
