As debates continue over the possibility that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu could be reappointed by court order as a trustee to head CHP, following the indictment prepared regarding the party's 38th Congress, an audio recording that shook Ankara's political backstage was published yesterday.
According to an audio recording said to be between Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held in Silivri Prison, and former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, contrary to the allegations, Kılıçdaroğlu was telling İmamoğlu that he wanted to withdraw from the race.
With the publication of the audio recording, a new statement came from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's camp.
"THE PUBLICATION OF THAT AUDIO RECORDING IS AN OPERATION"
Journalist Sinan Burhan described his conversation with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu after the published audio recording in a live broadcast he joined on TV 100 with the following words:
“I am saying the same as in my previous statements. Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu characterizes the publication of this audio recording as a continuation of this operation. He also regards this as an operation. His main thesis here is this: whatever the team and staff were at that time, the same circles today are continuing this operation.
I was considering withdrawing before the second round of voting. While I was discussing this with the Council Chair, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, before the process had been completed and before an official decision had been announced, a social media account called "Ekrem Edit" carried an operation-style report saying "Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu withdrew from candidacy". This post was disrespectful to me personally and to my will. I never accepted this; for this reason I entered the second round, voted and stood by my will.
The same circles that manipulated things through the Ekrem Edit account by saying Kılıçdaroğlu was withdrawing are after similar things today. I entered the second round because I found it unbecoming of my honor and the honor of the CHP delegates that they created the perception that they were presenting me with a fait accompli and giving me instructions. A village headman came and said, in tears, 'I came from Malatya, I worked within this party, do not withdraw.'”

In the published audio recording, Ekrem İmamoğlu, who chaired the council at the congress, uses the following statements: "As you see fit, Mr. Chairman. The election has started now; legally you cannot withdraw, friends say it is possible to withdraw with a written application".
In the audio recording, İmamoğlu says, "If you are considering us to express this to the public, we can express it here duly on your behalf in the manner most befitting you. However you wish. As you see fit, Mr. Chairman. Let me also invite Mr. Özgür Özel here and tell him about this matter".
