Bülent Arınç explains the details of his meeting with Özgür Özel: Did he draw a roadmap for Özgür Özel?

Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Bülent Arınç shared the details of his meeting with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Arınç emphasized that no topic regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu was brought up during the meeting.

“There were those who wanted me to visit İmamoğlu, but I did not do so, thinking it could lead to misunderstandings,” said Arınç, stating that he refused to visit İmamoğlu, who is currently facing ongoing trials.

Arınç stated that during the meeting, CHP leader Özgür Özel shared his rhetoric of "normalization," but they did not talk about internal party issues. Arınç explained, “We did not talk about the nullity issue either. Why would I talk about it? This is an internal matter of the CHP.”

COMMENT ON GÜRSEL TEKİN

Questions regarding Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency, were also raised during the meeting. While describing Tekin as a friend he respects, Arınç said, “How could Özgür Özel talk to Gürsel Tekin? He became the trustee of that party.” He stated that he had no connection to the infighting within the CHP and that it would not be possible for Özel to meet with him after Tekin was appointed as a trustee.

RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS THAT HE DREW A "ROADMAP" FOR ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

Arınç was also asked about allegations that he drew a "roadmap" for Özgür Özel. Stating that he has no such mission, Arınç said, “I do not have such a mission. I am a straightforward man; I speak what I know everywhere.” Arınç pointed out that his meetings with President Erdoğan are private and that he does not provide any external guidance.

Arınç denied the allegations that former CHP group deputy chairman Gökhan Günaydın was left outside during the meeting.

“Mr. Gökhan was left outside, but this was entirely his own choice. They wanted us to talk one-on-one,” said Arınç, stating that there was no special reason for Günaydın to remain outside.

Finally, Bülent Arınç stated that he has always been a member of the AKP and will continue to remain in this party, saying, “I am an AK Party member; the AK Party is my home, and I will continue to stay.”
