İMAMOĞLU IMPRISONED, CHP ON THE RISE
While operations against CHP-affiliated municipalities have been ongoing since March 19, many mayors have been arrested. CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu has also been imprisoned since March 23.
Despite this, İmamoğlu continues to come out ahead in the polls, and it is noteworthy that the CHP is gaining strength against the AKP.
“WE HAVE BEEN THE LEADING PARTY SINCE MARCH”
In his statement to DW Türkçe, evaluating the 17 months that have passed since the local elections, Özel stated, “In this process, we were only the second party for four months. We have been the leading party since March. In pessimistic polls, we appear to be 2-3 points ahead, and in optimistic polls, 6-7 points ahead.”
“EVEN IN THE MOST PESSIMISTIC POLL, THE CHP IS AHEAD”
The CHP leader provided the following information regarding the new poll result he received today:
“There is a very recent poll, a reliable study that all parties are subscribed to. (Showing the poll) CHP is at 34.7 percent, AKP is at 32.8 percent. The CHP has risen by 0.3 points in the last month, while the AKP has fallen by 0.4 points. The CHP has been the leading party for a very long time. Let me say this; this poll is one of the most pessimistic ones for the CHP, yet we are still in first place.”
