CHP reacts one after another to the investigation launched against İmamoğlu

CHP members reacted to the investigation launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. CHP members interpreted the investigation as a 'political game'.

CHP Deputy Chairman Gökan Zeybek: Explaining the deep wounds opened in our democracy, our judiciary, and our legal system; and revealing the departure from judicial independence cannot be a reason for an investigation. What should actually be investigated are those responsible for the scandals in question. The investigation launched at jet speed against our TBB and IBB Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu is an attempt to suppress the truth. However, as Mr. İmamoğlu also stated, the truth will come out sooner or later.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir: As soon as our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu stepped down from the podium, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation for the second time at jet speed. Imagine a Chief Public Prosecutor who has dismantled gangs in Istanbul, handled all judicial files, and whose only remaining job is to launch investigations against the Republican People's Party and Mr. İmamoğlu.

CHP Deputy Chairman Gamze Taşcıer: The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is probably trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. It is only a matter of time before they break the 'world record for lawlessness' with the investigations they have launched at lightning speed. Justice has been completely shelved; there is a complete political game on stage.

CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel: The statements made by our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding the expert witness who was taken from file to file 'to write a commissioned report against CHP municipalities' have once again revealed the pathetic state of the judiciary and the fact that the AKP government has lost its legitimacy. The fact that an investigation was launched against Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu before his press conference had even finished shows how blinded the government has become. Whatever the cost, we will not bow down to injustice, lawlessness, or unfairness.
