It has been claimed that the date for the second meeting between the Imrali Delegation and PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Ocalan has been set. Claims regarding the expected Imralı meetings with Abdullah Öcalan have stirred political circles.
While it is being discussed that the DEM Party delegation will hold a meeting with Öcalan by the end of January, it has been alleged that the roadmap prepared for this process was planned by President Erdoğan's closest aides.
WHAT IS IN THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PROCESS?
In Ankara's political circles, it is being discussed that the second phase of the peace process has begun. PKK terrorist organization leader Öcalan is expected to call for the laying down of arms in the near future.
Journalist Abdulkadir Selvi claimed that Öcalan's call would cover all armed elements, including the YPG. Stating that the process needs to be accelerated, Selvi said, "As the process drags on, the risk of sabotage increases. For a healthy solution, one must be fast but careful."
THE STANCE OF MHP AND DEM
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party members at the opening of Parliament on October 1 and his call to Öcalan on October 22 are considered the beginning of the process. However, no concrete statements regarding the process have come from either the MHP or the AKP.
Despite this, it is rumored in political circles that the details of the prepared roadmap are known only to a group close to Erdoğan.
DEM Party sources responded to the opposition's criticisms regarding the possibility of including President Erdoğan's re-nomination in the process.
A source speaking to Deniz Zeyrek from Nefes said, "We need to focus on peace, independent of political agendas. We do not have the luxury of missing this opportunity for a solution."
Selahattin Demirtaş, the imprisoned former co-chair of the DEM Party, also supported this approach, stating, "To avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, we must focus on peace by staying away from political agendas."
WHEN WILL THE MEETING TAKE PLACE?
Hilal Köylü from Serbestiyet wrote that the Imralı delegation's meeting with Öcalan could take place tomorrow. Köylü stated that there is an expectation for a disarmament call from Öcalan on the AKP and MHP front, and that if this call is postponed, it is not seen as a bad scenario but as a preparation process for negotiations.
'THE PROCESS SHOULD BE HURRIED'
Hürriyet columnist Hande Fırat also emphasized that the process should not be prolonged, saying, "Past examples show that prolonged processes reduce the chances of success."
AKP figures Hüseyin Yayman and Galip Ensarioğlu pointed out that the process could be concluded by the March 21 Nevruz, noting that it could be possible for arms to be laid down by this date.
IS THE ROADMAP READY?
The roadmap, which is alleged to have been planned by President Erdoğan's closest team, is being closely watched by both the ruling party and the opposition. The fate of the process seems to depend on the message that will come from Öcalan as well as the stances of the political parties.
