Fatih Altaylı shares bombshell behind-the-scenes info from prison! 'Calendar seems set' for jailed mayors: When will releases begin?

Journalist Fatih Altaylı shared details of an important meeting he held in prison in his latest letter sent from behind bars. According to Altaylı, an unfamiliar lawyer visited him in prison recently.

Stating that the lawyer claimed to represent the bosses of Gül İnşaat, known for its proximity to the AKP, Altaylı said this individual provided significant information.

"ORGANIZED CRIME CHARGES WERE STUCK ON THE MAYORS"

According to Altaylı, the visiting lawyer said that proceedings were carried out under the scope of "extortion" and "organized crime" so that the mayors could be arrested. According to the allegations, this method was chosen to establish the legal basis for the arrest process.

Noting that the lawyer, who said, "The indictments for the mayors will be completed around the end of September or the beginning of October. Releases will begin along with the trials," provided very clear information about the process, Altaylı remarked, "It was striking that he spoke with such certainty."

Among the information provided by the lawyer, the most striking was the claim that the indictment regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu would be prepared after the new year.

It has been alleged that the file regarding the process conducted against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained during operations launched against the İBB on March 19 and sent to Marmara Prison after being arrested on March 23, has been placed on a separate schedule.

Fatih Altaylı stated, "A calendar is being discussed in some circles outside regarding when the mayors will be released. Whether or not to trust the lawyer is up to me, but what he said was very clear. I don't know how accurate it is, but I noted down what he said."
