Fatma Şahin will make Erdoğan very angry... Her remarks on Syrians have become a hot topic

While the opposition continues to call for Syrian refugees in Turkey to "return to their countries," a remarkable statement has come from the AKP.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, during a live broadcast on Ekol TV, said that safe returns should be encouraged with the opening of the road to Aleppo.

Şahin said, "Although we have experienced partial progress from time to time, our general consensus now is that voluntary and safe returns must be ensured. With the opening of the road to Aleppo, people should be encouraged to return to their own homeland. As local governments, we are working to create the logistics and infrastructure for this process."

Stating that the refugees came to Turkey due to compelling reasons, Şahin reminded that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs have also stated that safe returns could be a state policy.

DIDN'T ERDOĞAN SAY OUR DOORS ARE OPEN?

On October 19, when asked about the deportation of Syrians who commit crimes in Germany, President Erdoğan said that Turkey's doors have always been open to refugees.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, on the other hand, stated that refugees who commit crimes should be deported and thanked Turkey for its cooperation on migration.

According to the latest data from the Presidency of Migration Management, the number of Syrian refugees living in Turkey is recorded as 2 million 935 thousand 742. However, it is known that this figure is well above the official data.
