IMM Mayor İmamoğlu is being tried today in Silivri over his remarks directed at Akın Gürlek, on charges of "threatening and targeting individuals involved in the fight against terrorism."
In this case, it is requested that İmamoğlu be sentenced to up to 7 years and 4 months in prison, be deprived of his right to vote and be elected, and be banned from public office.
Most recently, İmamoğlu appeared before the judge in Silivri.
While İmamoğlu attended the hearing in a navy blue suit and navy blue tie, "security" was cited as the reason for the hearing being held in Silivri.
In his defense, İmamoğlu stated, "Instead of broadcasting lies and slander to discredit me, TRT, which operates on citizens' taxes, should broadcast this hearing.
Release the students you have arrested, whom I consider my own children; it is a shame and a sin.
Whoever suffers injustice will find me by their side. You cannot intimidate me." Footage of İmamoğlu before the judge has also emerged.
