The government has closed the door, but the public wants an early election: Here is the early election poll in 26 provinces

The issue of an early general election, one of the controversial topics on the political agenda, has been measured by a public opinion survey. The poll conducted by ASAL Research in the January 2026 period revealed the voters' approach to an early election.

The research was released to the public following the statements made by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli regarding early election debates.

POLL CONDUCTED WITH 2 THOUSAND PEOPLE IN 26 PROVINCES

In the study conducted by ASAL Research with 2 thousand people in 26 provinces, participants were asked the question, "Do you think an early general election should be held?"

According to the survey results, 54.4 percent of the participants stated that an early general election should be held. While 38 percent of the segment stated that they were against an early election, 7.6 percent expressed that they had no opinion.

The resulting picture showed that early election debates have found a certain resonance among voters. It was noteworthy that the rate of those who want an early election to be held was over 50 percent in the survey.

WHAT HAD BAHÇELİ SAID ABOUT EARLY ELECTION DEBATES?

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had previously opposed early election claims with harsh expressions in a statement he made. Criticizing the calls of the CHP Chairman, Bahçeli had used the following words:

"The CHP Chairman getting stuck on the early election mantra and making futile calls to me is pure political stupidity."

Bahçeli had also expressed the following statements in his explanation:

"It is clear when the election will be held; an early election will never be on the agenda. Even if the CHP Chairman tries to knock on the door of an election, we, as the People's Alliance, know that the door we will knock on is the main gate of Turkey and the Century of Turkey."
