He called it the document that would lead to Erdoğan's trial at the Supreme Council: The Presidency's Directorate of Communications confirmed it

CHP Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz brought up the claim that Turkey transported oil with the Northern Iraq Kurdish Regional Government between 2014 and 2018 without the approval of the Iraqi Central Government. Yavuzyılmaz stated that for these reasons, Turkey was fined 1.47 billion dollars by the International Court of Arbitration and presented documents to the public that he claimed would lead to President Erdoğan being tried at the "Supreme Council" (Yüce Divan).

Yavuzyılmaz shared on social media, saying, "I am sharing the documents that will lead to President Erdoğan being tried at the Supreme Council!" According to Yavuzyılmaz's claim, an application was made to the International Court of Arbitration because Turkey transported oil from Iraq between 2014 and 2023 without the permission of the Iraqi Central Government, and Turkey was fined. According to the claims, the fine amount is 1.47 billion dollars, which is approximately 60 billion TL at the current exchange rate.

STATEMENT FROM THE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTORATE

The Communications Directorate confirmed Yavuzyılmaz's claims but stated that the decision is not final and that Turkey has requested mutual compensation. The Directorate stated, "The Paris-based ICC Arbitration Tribunal rejected 4 of Iraq's 5 demands; it accepted most of Turkey's demands and decided that mutual compensation should be paid due to violations identified on both sides." However, it added that Turkey has objected to the compensation awarded in favor of Iraq and has filed an annulment lawsuit.

The Communications Directorate announced that Turkey will withdraw from the Turkey-Iraq Crude Oil Pipeline Agreement, signed in 1973, as of July 2026. This decision was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. The agreement, which began in 1973, was renewed in 2010. However, it was emphasized that the agreement has lost its relevance due to changing regional conditions and developments in the energy market.

ENFORCEMENT CASE OF THE ARBITRATION DECISION AND THE PROCESS

The Communications Directorate also shared developments regarding the arbitration decision. Following the decision rendered in 2023, Turkey demanded mutual compensation from Iraq. The annulment case filed in Paris has not yet been concluded. Furthermore, contrary to Yavuzyılmaz's claims, it was stated that these documents were not secret and had become public.

The Communications Directorate emphasized that the statements made by CHP's Yavuzyılmaz are far from technical and legal reality and are misleading to the public.
