During the AKP's group meeting held on Wednesday, Istanbul MP İsa Mesih Şahin, who resigned from the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi), İrfan Karatutlu, who left the DEVA Party, and Mersin MP Hasan Ufuk Çakır, who resigned from the CHP, joined the AKP.
Following these transfers, it was alleged that a mayor would also be switching to the AKP.
Former AKP MP Savcı Sayan shared information on his social media account stating that CHP's Balıkesir Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Akın would be joining the AKP.
Sayan stated that the long-awaited transfer is about to take place, announcing that all negotiations have been completed and that only the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is awaited.
"SOME HAD STRONGLY OPPOSED IT"
Savcı Sayan had previously made statements claiming this transfer would happen. Sayan said, "My source did not mislead me again. I had said it months ago; some had strongly opposed it. At the point reached today, that transfer is taking place," he said.
Sayan welcomed Ahmet Akın after the transfer takes place, using expressions such as, "Welcome among us, you have honored us."
DENIAL FROM Ahmet Akın
Ahmet Akın responded to the allegations made about him and denied the claims that he would join the AKP.
Stating that all negotiations have been completed and the process of joining the AKP has reached the final stage, Savcı Sayan said that only President Erdoğan's approval is awaited.
