İMAMOĞLU WAS NOT GRANTED PERMISSION

The visit to Ümit Özdağ coincided with a very interesting day. It was not planned in advance. The meeting traffic developed very quickly. I wanted to go to Silivri and visit the Zafer Party's tent. My friend Zekeriya Metin said, "If you want to meet with Özdağ, write a petition. They usually grant permission." I wrote to the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, and they accepted. Ekrem İmamoğlu had previously wanted to meet with Özdağ 4 times, but they did not grant permission. I think he requested permission from the Ministry of Justice, that might be why. On Sunday morning, before the arrest warrant for İmamoğlu was issued, I got up and went to Silivri. The roads were empty. I said to myself, "I guess they won't bring İmamoğlu here." Entry was not very difficult. Özdağ is in prison number 9. I was taken to the open visitation area at 12:05. Özdağ arrived at 12:10. He has lost weight, he has lost quite a bit of weight. I asked. "I am very well. I lost the weight on purpose. I mean, I didn't lose weight because of the conditions here," he said.

ÖZDAĞ BELIEVES IN ACQUITTAL

"There is a hearing for the insult case on April 29, and I think I will be acquitted 100 percent. Because there is no insult. As a politician, I am responding to what Erdoğan said as a politician. There is no arrest for this. The arrest is related to the events in Kayseri targeting Syrians. They are trying to establish a connection. The connection they established is two tweets I posted two days after the incident... Even there, I was not the one inciting, on the contrary, I said, 'Wanting Syrians to leave here is different, taking physical action against them is different. Let's stay away from provocations.' 985 people were detained, 48 people were arrested. There is not a single Zafer Party member or anyone associated with the Zafer Party. Furthermore, a report was prepared by the governor's office; it is stated that the Zafer Party has no involvement. I persistently asked for that report. It finally arrived. I will get out as soon as possible after this. Because there is nothing they can accuse me of," he said. I reminded him that the Minister of Justice said there were 8 cases against him. He was baffled. "Where did 8 come from?" he said. "I know they are preparing some things in their hands, but this is the first time I've heard the word 8. Those are also things like this. If there were other kinds of things, they would have come after me long ago," he said.

"So what do you say about İmamoğlu?" I asked. He said; "In a country where Melih Gökçek is not touched, no mayor can be questioned, my brother... Two laws are now being applied. One; law against the opposition. Two; law against themselves... Enemy law against the opposition. Favoritism law against themselves..." Ümit Özdağ reminded of this. I found Özdağ hopeful and in high spirits. I hope he gets out soon.

MEALS ARE HEATED WITH A KETTLE

I said, "What kind of place are you living in?" He drew a sketch. A bed right behind the entrance door. A refrigerator. A television on top of it. "We watch it, but for example, I asked for Sözcü TV, they haven't connected it yet. There is Halk TV. There are a few other channels. A desk next to the refrigerator. A toilet on the opposite side. It's not like in American movies with a toilet bowl in the middle or anything. It's an enclosed space. There is a shower facility. There is a kind of kitchen. There is no gas cylinder, there is a kettle. Food is distributed at 11:00. We boil water in the kettle and heat it with its steam," he said. Breakfast is left at 23:00-24:00 at night. There is a courtyard in front of the room. It is open until 23:00. But it is surrounded by high walls. Only clouds and the sun, if there is any, can be seen.
