As the health status of Kahraman, who is battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS), has returned to the agenda, the delays in his treatment process have drawn public attention.
MRI APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER
Tayfun Kahraman's wife, Dr. Meriç Demir Kahraman, announced in a statement on social media that despite her husband being hospitalized, the date given for his MRI scan is in September.
Dr. Kahraman said, "Those who have experienced it know that MS is a very serious disease. Throughout our 11-year marriage, we have had to rush to the hospital many times due to sudden attacks. There were periods when Tayfun could not walk, could not speak, and could not use his hands. Now, under prison conditions, we have to wait for an MRI referral 3 months from now."
HANDCUFFED HOSPITAL VISITS ALSO ON THE AGENDA
A similar situation occurred last year, when it was revealed that Tayfun Kahraman was kept handcuffed for approximately 6.5 hours during his transfer to the hospital for an MS check-up.

"First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who have been managing Tayfun's MS treatment and follow-up since 2005, and to everyone who has been a voice for us, worried about Tayfun, called, asked, and wrote.
As you know, Tayfun was transferred to the hospital yesterday. When we spoke today, I learned that he was taken to the hospital for a check-up, that we would be able to see the results of the tests conducted yesterday once they are forwarded from the hospital to the prison, but that Tayfun would only be able to have his detailed brain and spinal cord MRI in September.
Those who have experienced it know that MS is a very serious disease. Throughout our 11-year marriage, we have had to rush to the hospital many times due to sudden attacks. We have had to get MRIs in the middle of the night. We have witnessed times when Tayfun could not walk, could not speak, and could not use his hands to write due to unpredictable MS attacks. Now, under prison conditions, we have to wait for an MRI referral 3 months from now.
It is not just the disruption of health monitoring and treatment; prison conditions are also causing the disease to progress. For example, while MS patients need plenty of sunlight, Tayfun's vitamin D levels in his body are not at the level his doctors want, despite all external supplements, because he is in prison conditions. All these situations are documented with official reports.
Moreover, my husband Tayfun Kahraman is innocent. He has been held in prison for 38 months while innocent.
Our family has been living with this injustice and persecution for over three years.
What is right, necessary, humane, conscientious, and fair is for my husband Tayfun to go to his doctor's appointments freely and with his family.
Can one play with the health of an innocent person like this?
Can a person be kept in a cell, away from their family, for 38 months when it is known that they are innocent?
Our demand is very simple, very legitimate, and very concrete: Justice and the right to live in health!"
