The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an ex officio investigation has been launched into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu following his remarks at the Panel on Modern Law and the Politicization of the Judiciary.
Speaking at the panel organized by the Country Policies Foundation, İmamoğlu targeted Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, stating, "A raid is being conducted on the home of our Youth Branch Chairman Cem Aydın, supposedly to scare us. But the goal is to intimidate the nation. I am speaking to you, Chief Prosecutor, your mentality is rotten. This nation will wipe away the intellect you manage."
INVESTIGATION WAS LAUNCHED
Following these remarks by İmamoğlu, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action within approximately two hours.
