An interesting detail before the CHP convention: Both a wedding and a convention on the same day

The Republican People's Party (CHP) is gathering for an extraordinary convention on Saturday, April 6. After former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu clearly stated that he would not be a candidate, all eyes have turned to the new shaping of the party.

According to Serkan Alan from Sözcü, the selection of the hall where the convention will be held and the organization process are full of remarkable details. Alan stated that the hall at the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center, which belongs to the Yenimahalle Municipality, was chosen to mitigate the risk of the convention being canceled due to legal processes.

Decision for an emergency convention after the risk of a trustee

Serkan Alan stated, "After the statements made by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu two months ago, allegations were made that the convention was dubious. A judicial process was initiated, and some delegates gave statements. When the party faced the risk of a trustee being appointed, a decision was made to hold an extraordinary convention."

The hall is small, there are restrictions on the press

The convention will be held at the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center in Ankara. However, it was announced that members of the press would not be allowed into the area where the seats are located due to the small size of the hall. It was also reported that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had been working to find a hall that could not be canceled about 15 days before the convention.

Weddings planned by the Yenimahalle Municipality will also be performed in the same hall where the convention will take place. For this reason, there will be the excitement of the convention on one side and the joy of marriage on the other in the hall.

Approximately 1,400 delegates are expected to attend the convention. The convention, which will begin in the morning, will first establish the council. The name of Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu is being mentioned for the position of council chair.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ümit Uysal has announced his candidacy. For Uysal to officially become a candidate, he needs to obtain the wet signatures of 5 percent of the delegates. It is eagerly awaited whether other surprise names will come to the agenda at the convention.

A large rally is planned in front of the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center at 16:00. One of the moments when tension will rise the most at the convention will be the election for the Central Executive Board (MYK). While the 60-person MYK list is being determined, whether Özgür Özel's "key list" will be breached is already a major topic of debate.
