Karar columnist Mehmet Ocaktan, in his article regarding the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, addressed the government's harsh political stance and its effects on Turkey's future.
In his article, Ocaktan used the phrase "In the Muslim street, law is only valuable for arm-wrestling!" and pointed out that the oppressive methods applied by the government would harm the country.
MANSUR YAVAŞ CLAIM
Ocaktan stated, "It is understood that the government will play this game very hard, even beyond what we can imagine. The will that chose the path of eliminating İmamoğlu today could set up other barricades in front of Mansur Yavaş tomorrow. All of this is possible," indicating that the political struggle is not limited to Istanbul.
He warned that the government is not only targeting İmamoğlu but may also place similar obstacles before other opposition leaders in the coming process.
However, according to Ocaktan, the real problem was the existence of a Turkey that is being attempted to be governed by political engineering projects in the 21st century. Saying, "No one should attempt to reduce what is happening to just an Ekrem İmamoğlu issue," Ocaktan said that the government would drag Turkey into an even more difficult future with such harsh policies.
THE ONLY LOSER IS TURKEY
At the end of his article, Ocaktan said, "Let us know that there will be only one loser in this arm-wrestling madness of the government, and that is Turkey..."
