Reacting to these decisions taken after the appointment of trustees to municipalities, İmamoğlu had said, 'If your target is me, be brave, approve my sentence.'

With the latest developments, it continues to be discussed behind the scenes that Ekrem İmamoğlu is the CHP's strongest presidential candidate.

Journalist Fatih Altaylı evaluated the claims that the CHP would announce the presidential candidacy of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu earlier than expected due to the ongoing legal process.

Altaylı's statement regarding the advancement of İmamoğlu's candidacy is as follows:

Actually, they have been thinking this way from the beginning. This has been discussed since the legal process against İmamoğlu began.

There are those who say that Ekrem İmamoğlu's candidacy should be announced so that if the AKP attempts to carry out a judicial coup against İmamoğlu, this judicial coup would also be seen as being carried out against a rival presidential candidate.

Frankly, it is becoming more or less clear that it looks like the CHP's candidate will be İmamoğlu.

But this formula can still be voiced by the CHP. What is that formula? We will return to the parliamentary system. Our President will be Mansur Yavaş, just like Abdullah Gül was, and the Prime Minister will be Ekrem İmamoğlu.

This option is still on the table. But this option might be a difficult one to explain to voters under today's conditions.

Or they could do this: Yes, we are making Ekrem İmamoğlu the presidential candidate. However, after İmamoğlu becomes president, we will return to the parliamentary system within a 5-year period.

PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM PROPOSAL

And after we return to the parliamentary system, it can be spoken of directly that İmamoğlu will become Prime Minister and Mr. Mansur will become President. I think this is a consistent formula.

Because we have all seen that the presidential system does not suit Turkey and the problems experienced in the country after this system was introduced. Ultimately, no matter who becomes president, new and different problems may arise.

The presidential system is present in many of the problems Turkey is experiencing. This system is not suitable for Turkey. It is a system that prevents the generation of a common mind and slows down the entire operation.
