Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, in his column today evaluating the presidential candidacy debates that have recently resurfaced within the CHP, put forward several claims regarding Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, whose name is being discussed.
Stating that "Mansur Yavaş's Plan A is to be the CHP's presidential candidate," Selvi noted the following:
"He is not considering resigning from the CHP or running as an independent candidate. It is now said that he tells his inner circle, 'I will not leave the CHP unless they kick me out.'"
Meanwhile, the statements made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu—who recently made headlines by revealing the name of the expert witness involved in investigations into CHP-run municipalities, saying "the big radish is yet to come"—are drawing attention following the latest developments.
In his most recent response to a question about whether he would be a presidential candidate, İmamoğlu had passed the ball to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
In his column, where he expressed that Mansur Yavaş is eager regarding his candidacy, Selvi also assessed, "It is impossible to win the election without securing the CHP's vote share of around 30 percent. But if the CHP's candidate is Ekrem İmamoğlu, it seems inevitable that Mansur Yavaş will reach a crossroads."
