Mansur Yavaş reacts strongly to those reports!
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş gave a harsh response to TRT's report on ASKİ. Stating that TRT distorted the words of the ASKİ General Manager and engaged in manipulative broadcasting, Yavaş called for a correction.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş claimed that TRT took the statements of ASKİ General Manager Memduh Akçay out of context and called for accurate public information.
In his statement to TRT, Yavaş noted that the report was deliberately distorted and caused panic.
"TRT'S REPORT VIOLATES JOURNALISTIC ETHICS"
Yavaş stated that he "strongly condemns" TRT's report, saying, "We strongly condemn this report, which was served by distorting the facts and causing panic among the people of Ankara. TRT Haber's removal of our ASKİ General Manager Memduh Akçay's words from their context is a clear violation of journalistic ethics."
Mayor Yavaş drew attention to the misunderstanding of the expression used in TRT's report.
Yavaş explained, "The expression 'From time to time, especially during hours when water consumption is low, we will provide water in a controlled manner,' which our General Manager used while explaining a technical process, refers entirely to a technical application. This is pressure management and network optimization, a method applied in many cities around the world struggling with drought."
Yavaş stated that TRT engaged in manipulation by presenting this expression as "Ankara residents will be condemned to thirst again."
He emphasized that such a report not only misleads the public but also leads to an unusual increase in water usage. Yavaş stated that the broadcast in question was a "clear perception operation."
"CORRECT THE REPORT IMMEDIATELY"
Mansur Yavaş made an open call to TRT Haber, saying, "Correct your manipulative report immediately and inform the public accurately. Such broadcasts on a vital issue like water, especially in such a period when the global climate crisis is being fought, are not journalism but a clear perception operation."
Yavaş also announced that they would take legal action against TRT. Stating that they would use all their legal rights within the scope of the "Disinformation Law," Yavaş also expressed that they would apply to RTÜK. He drew attention to the importance of accurate information by saying, "The original version of the report is in the records of Anadolu Agency; publish it in its entirety."
