Özgür Özel answers the 'Mansur Yavaş' question: 'I am announcing it here for the first time'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was a guest on the Arena program hosted by Uğur Dündar on Sözcü TV. Making important statements regarding early elections and the candidate selection process during the program, Özel shared his meetings with Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş with the public for the first time.

"IF WE WANT AN EARLY ELECTION, WE MUST DETERMINE THE CANDIDATE EARLY"

Özel stated that as the demand for an early election increases, the candidate selection process must also be accelerated. Stating, "If we want an early election, we must determine the candidate early," Özel expressed that the party will act together in this process and will not make the decision alone. Özel said, "I promised my daughter, I will not let her experience another election defeat. I will not make a historic mistake."

MEETINGS WITH İMAMOĞLU AND YAVAŞ CONTINUE

Özel also touched upon his meetings with Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş. "I am saying this here for the first time. We had a productive meeting with Mansur Yavaş last Monday evening. He has no objection to a primary. I don't know if he will enter it or not," he stated. Özel noted that both individuals would do what is required of them if the party assigns them a task.

PRIMARY PROCESS AND INTRA-PARTY DISCUSSIONS

Özel said that the primary process has created excitement within the party and that they have demonstrated a will regarding this matter. "If all CHP members want to vote in this primary, let them come and become members," said Özel, adding that there has been a high volume of new member registrations to the party recently. Özel emphasized that he believes the primary process is the right step and that there is a need to act quickly.

MANSUR YAVAŞ'S FUTURE PLANS

Stating that Mansur Yavaş still has much more service to provide, Özel said, "Mansur Yavaş has more service to offer. If the party assigns him a task, he will do his best to ensure a victory." Özel expressed that he cannot say anything definitive about who the potential candidates will be or whom the members will choose, but that he believes the process is working correctly.
