Ranks united, politics paused... Turkey bid farewell to Sırrı Süreyya Önder together
The funeral ceremony for Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who passed away due to a heart condition, brought Turkish politics together in the same ranks. Leaders with differing views came together to bid farewell to Önder.

Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder was laid to rest with a ceremony following his passing due to a heart condition.
The funeral of Önder, who left his mark on political and cultural spheres, was held at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque in Levent, after which he was buried in the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
The ceremony turned into a symbol of loyalty and unity, bringing together leaders from different political views, artists, and citizens.
POLITICIANS CAME TOGETHER AT THE FUNERAL CEREMONY
The funeral prayer was attended by TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, Deputy Speaker of the TBMM and MHP İstanbul MP Celal Adan, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, former Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, former CHP Chairman Altan Öymen, former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu, DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan, New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) Chairman Fatih Erbakan, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan, Ahmet Türk of the DEM Party, numerous members of parliament from various parties, singer İbrahim Tatlıses, director Yılmaz Erdoğan, and many other artists and citizens.
THE IMAM SHARED A MEMORY OF ÖNDER
The Imam shared a memory regarding Önder:
"During a conversation we had on the occasion of a funeral, Önder asked me, ‘Teacher, isn't everything they call the whole world just about taking a shroud and leaving?’ The answer to this question lies on this bier today. He is giving the answer in the most beautiful way from the bier himself. Everyone remembers him as a good, beautiful person.”
After asking for the congregation's blessing, the Imam asked: "Do you bear witness that he is the Sırrı Abe (Brother Sırrı) whom everyone loved?"
After the blessing was requested for Önder, the funeral prayer was performed. The funeral prayer was led by İhsan Eliaçık, in accordance with Önder's will.
Önder's coffin, carried on shoulders, was taken to the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery to be laid to rest.
