Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar made notable remarks regarding the potential imprisonment of Ekrem İmamoğlu. Tayyar stated that while detention should generally be used as a precautionary measure, it is sometimes used for punitive purposes in Turkey. Tayyar said, "No one thinks İmamoğlu will flee. If there is no suspicion of evidence tampering or flight risk, there is no problem with him being tried without arrest."
Without delving into the issue of guilt or innocence, Tayyar emphasized that the judicial process must function correctly. Furthermore, he noted that while health concerns are on the agenda for some individuals, those accused of corruption could be tried without arrest.
When asked whether this stance affects the AK Party's perception in the eyes of thevoter,Tayyar replied,"It raises a questionmark in the minds of voters. We must eliminateall of these." He gaveadatefortheelection itself.
GAVE AN EARLY ELECTION DATE
On the other hand, Tayyar stated that there could be an early election in November 2027 within the AK Party and emphasized that this date should be clarified now.
Tayyar sent the message, "Fixing the election date for November 2027 would be relieving both for constitutional efforts and other political agendas." Tayyar noted that setting this date would allow the party to have a healthier election process.
360 DEPUTIES WILL BE SUFFICIENT
Stating that the CHP will be in opposition in the 2027 election, Tayyar said, "A majority of 360 is sufficient, it can be achieved with the DEM Party," expressing that political arithmetic will continue to function correctly. Stating that the President will act in unison, Tayyar noted that the opposition might take a stance against this situation, but as the resolution process progresses, the opposition will not be able to remain indifferent.
