Return to the family home is at the door! Özel and İnce met

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who visited the Memleket Party headquarters, met with Chairman Muharrem İnce.

In this significant meeting, the potential accession of the Memleket Party to the CHP and İnce's return to his "family home" were discussed.

The goal is to complete the process quickly following the meeting. According to information obtained, if no obstacles arise, it is planned for Muharrem İnce to be pinned with a CHP badge at the CHP Group Meeting to be held next Tuesday. Thus, İnce will have rejoined the ranks of the CHP after an interval of approximately three and a half years.

"I WILL WORK, I PROMISE"

Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce expressed his support for the CHP in a speech he gave at the rally held in Saraçhane last March against the operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, with the following words:

"Let me tell you this, let me say one last thing. Look, we just had a local election. In this local election, the young chairman of the Republican People's Party made the CHP the first party. Now we have a general election and a presidential election ahead of us. As an older brother and a comrade who has served the CHP for forty-two years, I promise that I will work with all my might to ensure that this young chairman comes out first in the upcoming election, just as he did in the local election.

The Republican People's Party has two presidential candidates. One is Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu, the other is me. That is, we are both presidential candidates who have lost. Now the duty that falls to us is to take the new presidential candidate of the CHP by the arm and raise his hand. I will do this on my own behalf, I promise."

Muharrem İnce, who left the CHP about four years ago, received over 30 percent of the vote as the party's candidate in the 2018 presidential elections. Having distanced himself from the party due to disagreements with the then-Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu after the election, İnce launched the "Homeland Movement" (Memleket Hareketi) in 2020 and resigned from the CHP in 2021 to establish the Memleket Party.

Following today's meeting, the process regarding İnce's return to the CHP is expected to become clear in a short time.

WILL Muharrem İnce RETURN TO THE CHP? STATEMENT HAS ARRIVED

Following the meeting, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Muharrem İnce made statements.

In his statement, Özel used the following expressions:

"The party closest to the CHP is the Memleket Party. We have always been parties that look out for each other and respect each other. We have a relationship where we have never spoken ill of one another. An invitation or call to be made to a political party must be handled with the sensitivity not to hurt that political party's corporate identity. That is why I have spoken a sentence or two about inviting Muharrem İnce to his family home, to our party. The process from here on is left to his own discretion. I respectfully greet those who vote for the Memleket Party and those who have affection for the party."

Later, Muharrem İnce made statements. İnce used the following expressions:

"Our country is going through difficult days, people cannot make ends meet. In these difficult days, there is also the government's judicial stick. They remove elected officials from office and appoint trustees in their place. We should not think of ourselves during this difficult process. We must put resentments and grievances aside. Therefore, I attach importance to this visit and I thank the Chairman. I will hold consultations with my friends within the party and then I will announce my decision. Thank you."
