The ruling party's new constitution plan revealed: Is it a preparation for Bilal Erdoğan?

The AKP has completed the "skeleton" of the new draft constitution it has been working on for a long time. The party defines the draft, which it plans to present to President Erdoğan in January, not yet as a full constitutional text, but as a framework and skeleton.

According to Nuray Babacan's article in Nefes, the headings included in the draft will be clarified, especially during the meeting to be held with Erdoğan.

It is stated that opinions will be sought regarding the controversial issues in the draft constitution during the meeting with Erdoğan. Following this process, the draft will be shared with other political parties in an attempt to reach a broad consensus.

The AKP has designated 2026 as the year when constitutional debates will intensify. It is anticipated that this year will shape the social and political agenda regarding constitutional amendments and new regulations.

It is alleged that revisions to the Presidential Government System are also being addressed in the new draft constitution. Among these changes, topics such as the appointment of ministers from among members of parliament and placing a limit on the number of Vice Presidents stand out.

Apart from this, strengthening local governments and increasing the emphasis on "equal citizenship" are also on the agenda. It is stated that the draft will also include provisions such as the president not being the party leader at the same time.

There are also significant changes regarding the electoral system. The AKP is focusing on a narrowed district model. Furthermore, the possibility of a regulation to prevent elections from being moved forward by a parliamentary decision has also come to the agenda. It is emphasized that these changes are being made to ensure transparency and fairness in election processes.
