Shocking remarks from MKYK member recruited by Erdoğan: Discomfort within the party is growing

The AKP Central Decision and Administrative Board (MKYK) meeting left behind an unusual moment.

According to journalist Nuray Babacan, the speech by the newly joined MKYK member, in which they stated that the party had deviated from its past values, created a brief shock and then a deep silence at the meeting.

The AKP member in question stated that the party had moved away from its founding principles and expressed that "they should stop preaching patience to citizens from the windows of luxury cars."

MEETINGS HAVE BECOME PRESENTATIONS, NOT SOLUTIONS

Criticisms within the AKP have increasingly pointed out for a long time that the Central Executive Board (MYK) and MKYK meetings are no longer an effective ground for producing politics and discussing mistakes.

Many figures in the party state that the meetings usually begin with the evaluations of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and end with presentations by ministers and deputy chairmen. It is stated that this situation does not allow for comprehensive negotiations.

In the speech made by the new MKYK member, the emphasis that common sense has weakened within the party and that positions should be used to "give power" rather than "take power" drew attention. Such expressions show that the sense of trust in the government within the party is also eroding.

It was stated that after the new member's statements, the meeting was concluded by saying "the negotiation is complete." Babacan also reported that there is growing discomfort regarding the exclusion of former politicians and provincial administrators from the process.

Babacan pointed out that with the transition to the Presidential Government System, assessments that MYK and MKYK meetings have moved away from being spaces for self-criticism and policy revision are being discussed more and more within the party.
