The government's secret campaign... What will come out of the bag for Mansur Yavaş?
While investigations continue against Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is running as the sole candidate in the election where the CHP will determine its presidential nominee, journalist Aytunç Erkin has offered a striking assessment. Erkin wrote about the possibilities regarding what kind of plan the government has for Mansur Yavaş, stating, "If Mayor Ekrem's path is blocked, what will come out of the bag for Yavaş? No one knows this." Here are the details...

As the Republican People's Party (CHP) process to determine its presidential candidate continues, investigations into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and the financial sanctions applied to his close circle remain on the agenda. In this process, where İmamoğlu stands out as the only candidate within the party, the future of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş is also a matter of curiosity.
While these discussions continue, Nefes newspaper columnist Aytunç Erkin has penned a remarkable column. Erkin stated that the government wants to block İmamoğlu's political future through the judiciary, while noting that what kind of scenario is being prepared for Mansur Yavaş remains uncertain.
IF İMAMOĞLU'S PATH IS BLOCKED, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YAVAŞ?
In his article, Erkin drew attention to the possibility of a political ban for Ekrem İmamoğlu and asked the following question: "If Mayor Ekrem's path is blocked, what will come out of the bag for Yavaş? No one knows this."
Stating that there is no sign that Mansur Yavaş's path has been cleared, Erkin expressed that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is constantly being audited by inspectors and that pressures on the municipal budget through Social Security Institution (SGK) debts are increasing.
THE GOVERNMENT'S SECRET CAMPAIGN
Another point Erkin drew attention to in his article was the claim that the government is conducting a covert campaign by exploiting the perception of division within the opposition.
In his article, he included the following statements: "The government front is trying to turn the uncertainty and fragmented image within the CHP to its advantage. While creating a perception that Mansur Yavaş is coming to the fore in the candidacy race, the narrative that 'there is chaos within the CHP' could be effective among voters. In this process, it is seen that the government is propagating the message, 'How will those who are not united among themselves govern the country?'"
CLEAR MESSAGE FROM YAVAŞ: ''I AM NO ONE'S BACKUP''
On the other hand, while Ekrem İmamoğlu's tour of Turkey for his presidential candidacy continues, important statements have come from Mansur Yavaş.
Emphasizing that he has been on the political scene for many years, Yavaş had said that he does not dig anyone's grave and that he does not have a thought like "Let him get a ban so I can take his place" regarding any politician.
Yavaş also reacted to the perceptions that he is seen as a "backup candidate" within the CHP, stating, "I am no one's backup. I have my own political roadmap."
HE WILL NOT ATTEND İMAMOĞLU'S MEETING
Whether Mansur Yavaş would attend the important meeting Ekrem İmamoğlu will hold on Saturday was a matter of curiosity. However, Yavaş announced that he does not intend to attend this meeting for now.
Yavaş had said, "Of course, we will convey our message of well wishes for the meeting. However, I do not intend to attend the meeting on Saturday for now."
