Claims that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) leader Mazlum Abdi had agreed to meet have been denied by the Directorate of Communications.
In a statement, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said, "The claims are contrary to the truth, and there is no such initiative or planning on our President's agenda."
The Presidency Communications Director stated the following:
'Some claims regarding meetings attributed to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, are contrary to the truth, and there is no such initiative or planning on our President's agenda.
Such baseless claims, shared either consciously or unconsciously, mislead the public and aim to influence the security policies pursued by Turkey in a different direction.
Information regarding our President's contacts is shared only by the Presidency Directorate of Communications or other authorized institutional representatives. It is important for the public to be sensitive to disinformation circulated on social media.'
