As part of the investigation conducted into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) regarding "terrorism" and "corruption" charges, Union of Municipalities of Turkey (TBB) President and CHP presidential primary candidate, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained on March 19, was arrested at the Çağlayan Courthouse on the afternoon of March 23 after being brought before the court on the evening of March 22.

 İmamoğlu was arrested and taken to Silivri Prison as part of the investigation into the IMM on "corruption" charges, under allegations of "rigging tenders, recording personal data, bribery, and establishing an organization." He was taken to Silivri Prison.

Approximately 4.5 hours after the arrest decision, İmamoğlu was removed from office by a decision of the Ministry of Interior.

I am facing one of the greatest injustices our political history has ever seen.

Of course, we will fight against the March 19 coup using every legitimate means.

However, even for the sake of this coup, my heart cannot accept the hurling of insults at our mothers, whom I hold sacred like bread, water, and air.

I condemn the insults directed at the President's mother with all my heart. On this occasion, I once again wish her mercy from the Almighty Creator. 

I also invite the prosecutor's office to take action regarding those who take advantage of our being in prison to make immoral posts about my mother, my wife, and my family.

Those who launch investigations at lightning speed on every matter look for a place to hide when it comes to our family. 

When we come to power, we will not do to you what you have done to us. Justice will be the guarantee for everyone, the law will ensure everyone's life and property security, and no one will be able to lay a hand on anyone else's property, honor, dignity, or integrity.
