The tour of visits in the TBMM by the DEM Party, which traveled to İmralı on December 28 to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan following the call by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, continues.

Having first visited TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and then MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the DEM Party delegation's first stop today was the Gelecek Party.

Gelecek Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu welcomed the DEM Party delegation at the door, which included Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who met with Öcalan in İmralı, as well as Pervin Buldan and former Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was replaced by a government-appointed trustee.

Davutoğlu was accompanied in the meeting by Gelecek Party İzmir Deputy Mustafa Bilici, Bursa Deputy Kani Torun, Diyarbakır Provincial Chairman Aydın Altaç, and former Muş Deputy and Deputy Chairman Alaattin Fırat.

MEETING CONCLUDES

The meeting between the DEM Party and the Gelecek Party has concluded.

Speaking on behalf of the DEM Party delegation after the 70-minute meeting, Sırrı Süreyya Önder said, "Within the scope of the meetings we are conducting, we met today with Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, with whom we had the opportunity to work together in the previous process. We shared some past experiences. We conveyed the information we have to him. We requested his advice, suggestions, criticisms, and warnings. We will make a comprehensive statement after we also visit Mr. Selahattin."

Gelecek Party leader Davutoğlu stated, "It was a very sincere consultation. We discussed what lessons should be learned from what happened in the past. We are going through a very important process. My advice is to build the strong Turkey of the future by acting with a cool head, respecting public order, and drawing on our deep historical knowledge. We also reviewed the developments in Syria and Iraq."

Sırrı Süreyya Önder was reminded of Tülay Hatimoğulları's statements. Önder said, "Our Co-Chair's statement is a statement taken out of context. Our approach is not to describe it as a catastrophe; the peace process is not easy, but peace is a beautiful thing."

DAVUTOĞLU: I CONDEMN IT

Speaking once more after seeing off the DEM Party delegation, Davutoğlu said, "I condemn Hatimoğulları's statements."

WHAT DID HATİMOĞULLARI SAY?

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, in a speech she made in Diyarbakır, touched upon the İmralı meetings and had used the expression that if peace is not built, "everywhere will turn into Gaza."
