Gökhan Günaydın, whose precautionary measure was lifted: I will continue my duty as group deputy chairman

The precautionary measure against CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın, who was referred to the High Disciplinary Board by the CHP administration with a request for permanent expulsion, has been lifted. Speaking to journalists at the TBMM following the decision, Günaydın stated that he would continue his role as group deputy chairman.

Regarding his office in Parliament, Günaydın said, "We are not attached to the office. But just as the Parliament Speaker's Office removed the group deputy chairmanship sign from our office in the middle of the night, they must now put it back."

Responding to the allegations against him, Günaydın said that about a year ago, an individual had made a claim that he had "distributed money at the party convention," and that he had subsequently filed both a criminal complaint and a lawsuit for damages.

Günaydın noted that the person cited in the file as having reported the allegation had stated, "I did not say such a thing. Because I have no such observation," and added, "Now, this is the situation. Because of this situation, the AKP judiciary, on one hand, separated my file and sent it to the parliamentary bureau. My party, on the other hand, applied a precautionary measure and an expulsion decision based on this. Now they have seen this and taken a step back."

Emphasizing that the process was not a personal matter of position for him, Günaydın said that the prospect of being expelled from the party caused "a pain in the depths of his heart." Stating that the issue was not limited to himself, Günaydın said, "It is a common issue for the party and our nine friends. It is my wish that these absurdities end for our other friends as well."
