Gökhan Zan announces his resignation from the İYİ Party

İYİ Party member Gökhan Zan announced his resignation from the party in a post on his X social media account.

In his post, Gökhan Zan stated, "My reason for entering politics was solely to support Hatay and to be able to voice the concerns of my fellow citizens in Hatay in Parliament following a severe disaster like the earthquake. Given that I have come to see that this is not really possible in the current political arena, I am resigning from the İYİ Party."

Zan's resignation statement is as follows:

"TO THE PUBLIC

Dear friends,

I joined the İYİ Party family on March 22, 2023, at the invitation of our Chairwoman, Ms. Meral Akşener. Throughout this process, I tried to fulfill my duty by putting my hand under the stone with all my values. I tried to be a voice for both the İYİ Party and all our citizens who have taken our party to heart. Amidst the economic and social problems our country is facing, I drew strength from our people and acted in accordance with the İYİ Party and its founding principles.

On this journey of hope that I embarked upon with the İYİ Party, in addition to gaining many experiences, I also had the opportunity to see the spirit of being able to struggle shoulder to shoulder. As is known, my reason for entering politics was solely to support Hatay and to be able to voice the concerns of my fellow citizens in Hatay in Parliament following a severe disaster like the earthquake. Given that I have come to see that this is not really possible in the current political arena, I am resigning from the İYİ Party.

I would like to thank, first and foremost, Ms. Meral Akşener, as well as all the esteemed elders and executives of the İYİ Party who did not leave me alone with their votes during the election period, who elevated me with their appreciation, and who encouraged and guided me with their experiences, and I thank the Turkish people who did not let go of my hand during my most difficult moments.

Seeking your forgiveness, I ask the İYİ Party family to grant me their blessing. I grant mine to them.
