Governor's Office announces: Protest ban in Bingöl

The Bingöl Governor's Office has announced that events such as meetings, press statements, and protest marches have been banned in the city for a period of 3 days.

The statement from the Governor's Office is as follows:

"Our Turkish Armed Forces have successfully carried out cross-border operations in northern Iraq and Syria, regions used as bases by terrorist organizations for attacks against our country, in order to neutralize terrorist attacks by the PKK/KCK terrorist organization against our people and security forces, and to ensure border security. It is assessed that individuals or groups sympathetic to the terrorist organization may engage in acts praising and supporting the PKK/KCK terrorist organization at various points in our province, that events such as gatherings, marches, and press statements may be organized against the aforementioned operation to discredit it in the public eye and attempt to cause a loss of prestige for our country and the Turkish Armed Forces, that acts that could negatively affect the life and property safety of citizens may occur, and that opposing groups may come together, leading to undesirable incidents.

In order to prevent provocative actions that could damage our national unity and solidarity, to establish national security, public order and safety, to ensure the safety of life and property, the inviolability of the person, the security regarding disposal and public welfare, to protect the fundamental characteristics of the Republic and the indivisible integrity of the State with its territory and nation, and to prevent possible illegal actions and avoid regrettable incidents; considering the serious indications that public order and safety will be disrupted in a way that will stop or interrupt ordinary life, and on the grounds that it will be difficult to ensure the safety of life and property, the inviolability of the person, the security regarding disposal and public welfare, all kinds of actions that may be carried out in open areas within the framework of the subjects described above, such as gatherings, marches, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-ins, rallies, setting up stands, pitching tents, distributing leaflets or brochures, hanging posters or banners, have been banned for 3 days from 00:01 on October 12 to 23:59 on October 14, within the provincial and district administrative boundaries, including the Gendarmerie region, in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstration Marches No. 2911 and Articles 11/A and C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
