Governor's Office announces: When will the acting IMM Mayor be elected?

The Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that council meetings will be held in both municipalities on March 26 due to the suspension of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık from their duties.

The Istanbul Governor's Office has announced that it has been decided for the IMM and Beylikdüzü Municipal Councils to convene on Wednesday, March 26, for the election of an acting mayor.

The statement issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office included the following:

"Due to the suspension of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık from their duties by the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure; in accordance with the provisions of Article 45 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, it has been deemed appropriate by our Governor's Office for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Beylikdüzü Municipal Councils to convene to elect an Acting Mayor; at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council meeting hall on Wednesday, 26.03.2025 at 13:00, and at the Beylikdüzü Municipality Council Meeting Hall on Wednesday, 26.03.2025 at 09:00."
