Gültekin Uysal’s '50+1' commentary: 'Writing "Erdoğan" instead of "arbitrariness" would be sufficient'
Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal has reacted to the signal given by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan upon his return from Germany yesterday, suggesting that the system requiring a candidate to receive 50 percent plus one vote to be elected president could be abolished.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan answered journalists' questions on the plane upon his return from Germany.
Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal evaluated Erdoğan's remarks.
'WRITING "ERDOĞAN" WOULD BE SUFFICIENT'
Uysal stated the following:
"When we were little, we used to play with soda bottle caps. Then 'tazos' came out. My peers will surely remember. There were always those who acted like 'bullies' while playing; either those who were older or larger in size... They would set the rules of the game however they could win. Even though they used their size as a threat to the rules they set themselves, they would demand new rules when they lost; however they could win... Erdoğan's '50+1' statement is just like that! If a definition were needed for 'arbitrariness' in the dictionary, writing 'Erdoğan' next to it would be sufficient."
"HE IS LOOKING FOR A NEW PARTNER TO HELP HIM SHED HIS CURRENT BURDENS"
When Erdoğan started to lose, he created a 'partner' for himself to maintain the '50+1' balance. Now, that 'partner' is not enough either. He knows he has to find other partners and that each one is a 'burden'... Now, he is looking for a new 'partner' to help him change the '50+1' formula and shed his current burdens. Let no one say 'the opposition was saying this formula should change' and hide behind that. We, at least on our own behalf, spoke of changing the entire system—which includes this formula—that is arbitrary, disregards the law, and castrates justice in representation. We did not speak of a change that would allow Erdoğan to maintain his power through other methods!"
