Hakan Fidan's assessment on YPG's dissolution statement: We will see its reflection on the ground

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made assessments regarding the terrorist organization YPG's announcement that "the autonomous administration and all its affiliated military and civilian structures have been dissolved." Fidan stated that Ankara is closely following the process and that the announcement's reflection on the ground will be taken as the basis.

In his statement on the matter, Fidan noted that Turkey is acting with a professional stance, saying, "Our job is to act professionally and to verify the reflection of these claims in the field. If it is as stated, it is of course a welcome development. It is complementary to the steps we currently wish to take."

Expressing that the development in question is also important in terms of social balances in Syria, Fidan noted that this could be a step that "will strengthen, in particular, Kurdish-Arab brotherhood in Syria." Fidan stated that such a process would serve to create an environment where all Syrians can look to the future with more confidence.

The Foreign Minister drew attention to the fact that in Turkey's approach to Syria, the country's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national unity must be preserved. Emphasizing that the protection of Kurdish identity is also important, Fidan said that while opposing the denial of identity, the integrity of Syria must not be harmed.

Fidan stated, "We underscore that while the identity of the Kurds is protected and there is no denial of identity, the issue of not disrupting Syria's national unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity is also important, and we want to see this in practice as well."
