Halk TV's response to Bahçeli: 'We do not come from a culture of ambush'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated during his party's group meeting, "I want to announce to those concerned that we are taking note, one by one, of the media outlets and especially the media owners who create an environment of attack against the MHP, particularly Halk TV, and who threaten and incite it; and that when the time and place come, we will make them pay for it dearly. Character assassinations committed in a crowd will not be forgiven in private." The response to Bahçeli came from Halk TV Chairman of the Board Cafer Mahiroğlu. Mahiroğlu said, "Neither 'character assassination in a crowd' nor 'apologizing in private' exists in our culture. Because we do not come from a culture of ambush."

Halk TV's owner is someone who believes in his country's democratic life and the principles of rights, law, and brotherhood, Mahiroğlu said, adding, "The milestones of his life to date are clear and distinct. Therefore, no one can attack us through the lens of brotherhood," he said.

'THE PRIVILEGE OF THREATENING THE OWNER OF HALK TV CANNOT BE HIDDEN BEHIND ANY IDENTITY'

Mahiroğlu's statement is as follows:

"The dosage and severity of the speeches systematically targeting Halk TV are increasing day by day.

We see that these words, which reach the level of 'instructions' such as 'we are taking note one by one' and 'we will make them pay for it dearly,' are being circulated from hand to hand on social media.

We want it to be known that the privilege of threatening the owner of Halk TV cannot be hidden behind any identity.

Halk TV's stance is clear. It is very clear that Halk TV has taken a stand in favor of meeting and embracing in brotherhood within democratic life, together with the essential elements of the country, to this day.

The owner of Halk TV is someone who believes in his country's democratic life and the principles of rights, law, and brotherhood. The milestones of his life to date are clear and distinct. Therefore, no one can attack us through the lens of brotherhood.

'Neither character assassination in a crowd nor apologizing in private' exists in our culture. Because we do not come from a culture of ambush."
