Halkevleri General Assembly: Orhan Sarıbal expelled from membership
During the 29th Ordinary General Assembly held in Ankara, the Halkevleri membership of CHP Bursa MP Orhan Sarıbal was terminated by unanimous vote. General President Nebiye Merttürk emphasized the importance of struggle and resistance.

Halkevleri held its 29th Ordinary General Assembly at the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers Education and Culture Center in Ankara. Along with members arriving from many provinces across Turkey, representatives of political parties and various mass organizations also took part in the general assembly.
In her opening speech, Halkevleri General President Nebiye Merttürk touched upon the ongoing wars in the world and current political processes in Turkey. Merttürk argued that the suppression of reactions to problems faced within the country, alongside popular struggles rising against the pressures of imperialism, is part of a larger war.
In her speech, she outlined the organization's political line with the words: "Now our entire focus is to grow the determination for resistance against the Palace regime and to ensure that the people, who have mobilized against fascism, assert themselves as an independent political subject and movement. These people will take their destiny into their own hands and pave the way for liberation. Because the people are greater than the Palace."
During the session where activity, audit, and financial reports were approved, two Doruk Mining workers also addressed the participants. Drawing attention to their struggle and the process of reaching Ankara, the workers stated: "We are miners; we dig tunnels if necessary, and we grow wings and fly if necessary. We came through various paths, no matter how arduous. They detained us. They said, 'We are very powerful,' but we did not give up. We made it all the way to Ankara. They saw the power of the people. We are more powerful than them. We thank you all very much for standing by us."
UNANIMOUS VOTE FOR ORHAN SARIBAL
In the later hours of the general assembly, an important agenda item was put to a vote during the discussion of the Honorary Board report. The proposal to expel CHP Bursa MP and Halkevleri General Administrative Board member Orhan Sarıbal from membership on the grounds that he "acted in concert with the absolute nullity administration" during the police intervention in front of the CHP Headquarters was brought to the agenda. The delegates accepted the motion unanimously, ending Sarıbal's ties with Halkevleri. The Honorary Board's report was also approved unanimously.
The Halkevleri General Assembly concluded with the message that the struggle of the people and the understanding of independent politics will continue.
