Handover ceremony completed at CHP

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was elected as Chairman at the 33rd Ordinary Congress held in 2010 and held this position for 13 years, has handed over the seat to Özgür Özel, who was elected as Chairman at the 38th Ordinary Congress.

KILIÇDAROĞLU AND ÖZEL HELD A MEETING

Following the certificate of election ceremony held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Özgür Özel arrived at the CHP Headquarters, where he was welcomed by the 7th Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and a group of party members. The two chairmen then went to the executive floor for the handover ceremony. After the ceremony held in the office, Özgür Özel made a brief statement. Later, Özel saw Kılıçdaroğlu off from the CHP Headquarters. It was learned that Özel and Kılıçdaroğlu held a private meeting for 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute meeting with their respective delegations.

Speaking about their 1-hour meeting, Özel said, “He gave important advice. We agreed to consult with each other on every critical issue from now on. In the message you will watch shortly, he also expressed the contributions that need to be made for the party's future success.”

''BEST WISHES TO OUR DEAR CHAIRMAN''

Speaking at the ceremony, Kılıçdaroğlu stated, “We all greet our new chairman with respect. We wish him heartfelt success. We will all do our best to ensure he is successful. I say once again, best wishes to him. Therefore, it is the common duty of all of us as members of the Republican People's Party to stand by our Chairman in the struggle he will wage from now on. We will take care to fulfill this common duty in a beautiful way. Once again, best wishes to our dear Chairman.”

''OUR CHAIRMAN HAS CONTRIBUTED SO MUCH''

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Özel said, "Our Chairman has contributed so much to everyone in this room. He has contributed the most to me, and he has contributed so much to our party. He waged a great struggle during the most turbulent and difficult periods of Turkey's political life, during very difficult times for our party. Our Chairman shouldered a very important struggle during a significant portion of the terms of governments that were hostile to the republic and hostile to the founding cadres of the republic."

''OUR ENTIRE ORGANIZATION LOVES OUR CHAIRMAN VERY MUCH''

Stating, "He shared with me the advice a chairman needs to know and learn, and the advice he needs to keep, for nearly an hour," Özel added, "I will try to fulfill the information he passed on by continuing a tradition that is in the tradition of the Republican People's Party and inherited from Atatürk to this day, as well as the measures I need to take and the issues I need to pay attention to, without keeping them away from the most precious corner of my mind for even a moment. The greatest honor for our Chairman is that our entire organization and all our members love him very much and will always love him.
