In a post on his social media accounts, Ekrem İmamoğlu brought up the case of his imprisoned driver's 10-year-old son, Ayaz, to voice his criticisms of the judicial system. İmamoğlu posed the questions, "Does the judiciary take hostages? Does the judiciary act with cruelty? Does the judiciary take revenge or harbor grudges?" and stated that the reputation of the Turkish judiciary has been damaged.
In his message, İmamoğlu noted that his wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, had seen Ayaz at a Family Solidarity Network meeting held in Silivri. Emphasizing that Ayaz is a symbol of innocence and the oppressed, İmamoğlu concluded his remarks by saying, "Be ashamed before Turkey's future and our nation! Trial without detention is a right!"
In his message, İmamoğlu also drew attention to the situations of various groups, including drivers, security personnel, private secretaries, and female and mother prisoners. Pointing to the grievances experienced by these individuals and their families, he argued that the judiciary must be fair.
