CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş attended the opening ceremony of the Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Kırıkhan, Hatay, which was damaged in the earthquake and rebuilt by the IMM subsidiary KİPTAŞ.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lütfü Savaş stated, "We were alone for the first 3 days. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality was the one that supported Hatay the most. Our IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu worked as hard as we did with his teams."
Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş spoke at the IMM Workers' High School Groundbreaking Ceremony.
The highlights from Savaş's speech are as follows:
"We all went to bed very happy on the night of February 5. Because Hatayspor had beaten Kasımpaşa 1-0 with a free-kick goal. We woke up to a great nightmare in the early hours of that night. We lost 7 people from our football team. Both our manager and our player Christian Atsu, who brought us the victory that night.
We were truly alone for the first 3 days. From the third day onwards, many NGOs, our municipality, our state, people from different regions, and people from abroad arrived, but the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality was the one that supported us the most. From the third day on, they supported us in every corner of Hatay to heal Hatay's wounds. I would like to thank all our mayors. But it is truly very difficult to repay Istanbul. Our IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his teams worked as hard as we did."
