Following the election of Müsavat Dervişoğlu as the 2nd Chairman of the İYİ Party at the party's 5th Extraordinary General Assembly, İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman and Samsun MP Erhan Usta has resigned from his post.

"I DECIDED TO SUPPORT KORAY AYDIN"

Usta made the following statements in a post on social media:

Our party held its 5th Extraordinary Congress on Saturday.

Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu has been elected as the new chairman of the İYİ Party.

I congratulate him and wish him success.

As a result of the consultations we held throughout the congress process, which was compressed into a very short period of time, I decided to support Mr. Koray Aydın and shared this decision with the public.

My belief that Mr. Koray Aydın would contribute more to the need for the İYİ Party to position itself in the center and to recover was influential in this decision I made.

I believe that Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu, who was elected Chairman, will also respond to this need and strive to do so.

Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu is someone I address as "elder brother" and with whom I have worked without any problems for a long time. I have absolutely no personal issues with him. This is a relay race, and our delegates have deemed this difficult task appropriate for him.

"I AM RESIGNING"

However, it would not be in accordance with political courtesy for me to continue in this position after announcing my support for another candidate.

For this reason, as I stated in the hall on the day of the congress and on TV screens, I am resigning from my position as Group Deputy Chairman. As of today, I have submitted my resignation letter to the İYİ Party TBMM Group.

The reason I am announcing this decision immediately is to clear the way for the newly formed İYİ Party group. I wish our friends who will be appointed to the post success in advance."
