CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement regarding Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer's emphasis on his loyalty to the CHP. Özel stated that he had spoken with Seçer and expressed that there is no resentment or hard feelings between them.

Speaking in response to a question, Özel said that Seçer's sense of loyalty to the party is no different from their own. Özel conveyed that Seçer called him and gave the message, "As my chairman, whenever you come to Mersin and the region, I will accompany you."

Özel also mentioned that Seçer made a statement regarding the program he attended, noting that the Mersin Metropolitan Mayor said his words were about "the party founded by Atatürk, of which he is a member."

Özel's statement is as follows:

"First of all, Vahap Seçer's sense of loyalty to the CHP is no different from ours. Yesterday, Mayor Vahap called me. What Vahap Bey personally said to me was, 'When you came to Adana, I came and accompanied you. Whenever you come to Mersin and the region, I will accompany you as my chairman. The party I am a member of was invited to another municipality's event, and I was already invited, so it would not have been right for me not to attend.

My expressions were also about the party founded by Atatürk, of which I am a member,' he said. I told him that I did not harbor any resentment or hard feelings toward him regarding this matter. In fact, he personally expressed to me, 'I, as the President of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey, condemned this with all my colleagues in the early days of the incident. I have come here many times and shown my stance. I want it to be known that there is not the slightest problem between us regarding this issue.' I expressed the same good sentiments to him."
